Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Regional Support Officer with Trade Union experience to join the East of England region. The successful candidate will support the work of the regional team and Head of Region in carrying out the 'Five Pillar's strategy with specific reference to representing members, negotiations, supporting and organising Reps, campaigning and recruitment. The successful candidate will work closely with relevant BMA staff and BMA Reps and will have transferrable skills or knowledge which can be applied to negotiating, representing, campaigning, and organising within a membership organisation such as a trade union. This is a part-time position for 20 hours per week and is a fixed term contract for 12 months.
- Up to date and in-depth expert knowledge of industrial relations, employment law, HR policies, procedures and good practice
- Ability to gather and evaluate information and develop strategies for dealing with complex negotiations, cases or campaigns
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with BMA colleagues and members
- Knowledge of NHS structures and an understanding of the key issues facing the medical profession locally
- Organised with the ability to manage a demanding workload and manage your own diary
- Excellent negotiating, influencing and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable in dealing with varying situations
