Full Job Description
Applications are invited for the post of Senior System Administrator within the Corporate Operations team in the University’s Information Services Directorate. The successful applicant will join a small team of system administrators responsible for the support, maintenance and development of the University’s corporate systems.
The role of the corporate operations team is to maintain a smooth running, secure, efficient and up-to-date technical infrastructure for the University’s data. The infrastructure is based on UNIX and Windows hosts together with associated software.
The infrastructure is primarily Linux running on VMWare with a small number of stems running on Solaris and Windows. Application front end servers are mostly Apache or Tomcat. The application database servers are mostly Oracle or MYSQL. The applications used by the University are a mix of purchased, home grown and open source software.
The team supports over 60 application which includes products that run the corporate website, the University’s virtual learning environment and the finance management system.
The role is a great opportunity to work within a modern IT environment doing a mixture of support and project work. It would suit someone who enjoys leading technical projects whilst still being involved in resolving day to day issues.
All successful candidates must be willing to be located in the UK.
