Job Overview

This role involves responding to client third party risk assessments ("Client Audits") and any associated remediation activities globally. This role involves liaising with a number of functions across the Firm to ensure all necessary input is obtained. The position is by its nature a global role; it will also involve working to local regulatory requirements as required.

The Risk & Compliance function is commercially minded and focuses on adding value to the business as well as clients.

The successful candidate will:

  • Successfully plan, prepare and respond to Client Audits;
  • Coordinate (and, where applicable, carry out) any associated remediation activities to ensure such activities are actioned as required;
  • Work closely with the Client Audits Supervisor to assist in developing and improving the client audit process for the Firm;
  • B e able to communicate technical jargon (particularly common in relation to information security) to non-technical stakeholders (partners, clients and other business functions); and Be tasked to further develop relationships with our stakeholders on a continuous basis

Main responsibilities

  • Respond to Client Audits being undertaken on the Firm, with the input of other required functions.
  • Ensure all aspects of responding to a Client Audit are dealt with in a timely manner. This includes completing any assessments, obtaining any evidence required and ensuring this is prepared in an agreed way for evidence validation sessions with the client.
  • Work closely with other departments of the Firm, in particular IT, Information Security and Third Party Risk Management, to understand how Ashurst functions as a business and how our infrastructure is set-up. Ensure such knowledge is provided to clients without relaying sensitive information.
  • Liaise with a range of Ashurst departments to ensure they understand what is required of them when responding to Client Audits, including when engaging with a client as part of an audit.
  • Act as a contact within Ashurst for any Client Audits undertaken. This includes coordinating schedules and agendas with the client and everyone at the Firm involved in the Client Audit.
  • Build excellent working relationships with, and work on an ongoing basis with client counterparts, bringing all Client Audits to a satisfactory conclusion.
  • Brief Client Relationship Partners at Ashurst on developments before, during and after key audits. Provide them with talking points and further insights where necessary. Lead discussions with them about remediation items that may impact their working practices.
  • Work on Client Audit remediation items that are identified by clients.
  • Keep members of the Client Commitments team informed about any discussions on Client Audits findings, to enable them to ensure this is considered in contracts with the client
  • Support the Client Audits Supervisor with tasks such as trend analysis and data capture, to facilitate team forecasting and reporting to Risk and Compliance senior management.
  • Update and develop the Client Audit Team's resources and information management systems, to ensure all remain fully functional and containing the latest versions of key documentation.
  • Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with our regulatory requirements and Ashurst internal policies.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Notable experience and technical skills within an Auditing (Internal, External, Second-Party or Third-Party), Compliance, Quality, Governance or Project Management role, or experience within Third Party/Supplier Risk Management
  • Understanding of conducting or responding to audits utilising Inquiry, Observation, Inspection, and Reperformance procedures.
  • Demonstrated experienced background of strategic decision making and negotiation skills.
  • Experienced in discretionary decision-making and working independently to problem solve client and technical issues with key stakeholders. Strong, professional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to put a position forward in a clear, articulate way, to different stakeholders.
  • Advanced ability to manage large volumes of information in the appropriate format.
  • Ability to adhere to strict internal and external deadlines. Skilled in managing expectations and facilitating complex discussions
  • Ability to smoothly adapt to changing environments, processes and technology, and to balance a fast pace of working, with appropriate attention to detail.
  • Discrete and professional in handling sensitive and confidential situations
  • Adaptable interpersonal skills, able to liaise effectively at all levels across the Firm. Approachable, with the ability to contribute positively to a supportive team environment

Desired skills and experience

  • Previous experience in responding to, or supporting on internal or external audits, involvement in audit finding remediation processes with relevant risk owners.
  • Confident working with Microsoft 365, particularly within Excel.
  • Familiarity with Information Security, Data Protection, and Audit process terminology and subject matters
