Full Job Description
British Blind Sport (BBS) is looking for a new Workforce Development Officer to join the Sport Development team on a 12-month fixed term contract., The Workforce Development Officer plays a crucial role in enhancing the capabilities and expertise of coaches, teachers, volunteers and other professionals who deliver sports coaching to blind and partially sighted people. This role is dedicated to fostering a skilled and knowledgeable workforce capable of providing inclusive and effective sporting experiences for all. Key objectives:
- Provide advice, information and guidance to the sport sector on barriers to working with blind and partially sighted people
- Develop and implement training programmes tailored to the specific needs of coaches, teachers and other professionals
- Deliver engaging workshops, seminars and training sessions on inclusive coaching practices, disability awareness, and adaptive sport techniques
- Collaborate with national governing bodies, national organisations and local sports providers to identify and address workforce development needs
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including universities, colleges and professional development organisations, to expand the reach of training initiatives
A degree or similar-level qualification in sports development or evidence of the equivalent practical experience - Excellent interpersonal skills
- Self-management of time and ability to meet deadlines
- Knowledge of workforce strategy and development within the sport sector
- Ability to travel independently and work flexible hours, including events and weekends when necessary
