Full Job Description
There are two posts available - Active Travel Officer and Active Travel Behaviour Change Officer.
Post 1 - Active Travel Behaviour Change Officer - Deliver active travel projects and associated tasks. Including (but not limited to) the development and ongoing support of an active travel working group, creation of a travel behavioural change campaign, support for our renowned Walk It Programme and delivery of other projects, as set out in our upcoming Active Travel Strategy. Deliver active travel projects and associated tasks, paying particular attention to Economic Development.
Post 2 - Active Travel Officer - Tasks may include (but not limited to) providing active travel support and advice to the Place Planning Initiatives and especially to town teams in our key priority towns but also in selected locations across the Borders. The post holder will work closely with the Events and Tourism team providing appropriate support for active travel activities across the region, providing support to travel behavioural change campaigns and the delivery of other projects, as set out in our upcoming Active Travel Strategy and Local Transport Strategy.
The role will involve working in the operational/delivery function of the Active Travel and Transport team (which includes countryside access).
The role(s) will include delivering specific tasks, projects and programmes of work associated with active travel, and working closely with key stakeholders, including the community.
A key component of the role(s) will be working in active travel which is primarily walking, wheeling, cycling and horse riding, and the delivery behaviour change initiatives.
Active travel will be a key component of Scottish Government and Local Authority policy over the forthcoming years and we are looking for two officers to help support our growth and aspirations in this space, to ensure the Scottish Borders and the South of Scotland is at the forefront of the work to deliver better facilities for our residents and help in the transition to net zero.
Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline such as Civil Engineering, Transport Planning, Planning, Active Travel, Sustainability, Marketing, Communications OR relevant work experience
