Full Job Description
Role
CVS Inverclyde’s members are at the heart of everything we do. We are looking for a colleague who will take the lead role in expanding and enriching CVS Inverclyde’s membership experience whilst leading our marketing and communications activity to demonstrate the impact of our work and that of the wider third sector in Inverclyde.
What you need to be successful
The role will suit someone who is experienced in creating effective and impactful communications, who can use data and insights to tell compelling stories about the third sector and communities to demonstrate impact across a wide range of platforms both online and in print. They must be experienced in delivering events on time and to budget whilst balancing a busy workload.
CVS Inverclyde is a small team with big aspirations. We are launching a new strategic plan, which makes this an exciting time to join our team. Strong communication skills are essential as you will be required to communicate effectively and maintain credibility at all levels across our membership and with our third and public sector partners. You will be a highly motivated self-starter who has excellent organisation skills and familiar with managing competing priorities. You will be able to use your own initiative to meet competing priorities whilst maintaining high standards across all of your work.
Core Duties & Responsibilities
Marketing
- Develop and implement our communication strategy, to demonstrate the impact of our work.
- Develop, design and delivery a range of communications for various audiences including, public relations materials and campaigns, bulletins, case studies, reports and presentations that raise the profile of CVSI, connected organisations and the third sector in Inverclyde
- Ensure that all communications are strategic, on brand, and support CVSI’s objectives and in line with local strategies and plans.
- Maintain and update our websites and seek opportunities for development.
- Build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including local media, leveraging opportunities to tell our story and raise our profile.
- Take the lead role in delivering a minimum of 3 events per year including our AGM and Annual Conference.
- Develop and maintain CVSI’s websites and digital content including social media, ensuring that our digital presence aligns with our identity and message.
- Create relevant publications and promotional materials using Canva and aligning these with other communications platforms including Mailchimp, survey tools and social media.
- Undertake some photography, filming and videography to help capture events, or to support bespoke project and campaigns.
Membership
- Take the lead role in improving the member experience to ensure their needs are always our primary focus, ensuring swift resolution of issues and enhancing our reputation
- Ensure that the wider CVSI team have the tools and information they need to be focused on membership and ensure that the touchpoints within the organisation are smooth
- Work with colleagues to plan and deliver membership engagement and recruitment events.
- Plan, gather and use member feedback to shape CVSI’s activities and services.
- Promote members participation in events, volunteering, surveys, and campaigns.
- Research and recommend outreach strategies that target new and underrepresented membership audiences.
- Clearly communicate membership benefits across various platforms in print and online.
- Build and nurture partnerships with organisations that can extend our membership reach and benefits.
- Maintain and update membership databases with accuracy and care.
- Track recruitment, retention, and satisfaction metrics.
- Produce reports and insights for internal and governance use.
- Conduct surveys to identify and address barriers to membership.
Impact
- Working with colleagues from across the organisation, take the lead in translating data, insights and external information to share stories and generate influence and impact.
- Monitor and evaluate content of communication products to ensure quality, consistency and accessibility of messages, and provide monitoring data to inform quarterly reports and annual reporting i.e. google analytics.
- Contribute to monitoring and evaluation activity by designing surveys, generating summaries, and analysing data; and prepare/contribute to the Annual Report.
- Lead the re-design of key organisational publications and reports to maximise impact and engagement.

INTERVIEWS:
Interviews will take place in person at our offices in Greenock on Tuesday 27th May 2025.
Salary: Salaries are paid in arrears at monthly intervals on or about the 28th of each month directly into your bank account.
Hours: Working hours are 35 working hours per week, Monday to Friday between the hours of 0900 and 1700. The nature of the post means that it is likely that from time to time evening and weekend work will be required. Paid overtime is not available, but time off in lieu will be given.
Place of work: CVS Inverclyde’s offices are currently at West College Scotland, Finnart Street Campus, Greenock, PA16 8HF. Attendance of meetings and events in other parts of Scotland may also be required periodically, with travel expenses paid in accordance with CVSI’s Expenses Policy.
Contract: Permanent
Flexibility: Subject to ensuring that the needs of the charity and the role are met, CVSI endeavours to meet the flexible working needs of its employees.
Holidays: Our holiday year runs between 1st April and 31st March. Holiday entitlement is [5.6] weeks, or 35 days which are inclusive of the [8] normal bank holidays. Holiday entitlement is pro-rata for part-time employees.
Pensions: You will automatically be enrolled into our Pension Scheme after you have been employed by us for three months. Within a month of being enrolled in the Scheme, you can send an opt-out form if you do not wish to be in the Scheme. If you do not opt out, we will deduct your contributions to the pension scheme from what we pay you. Current details of the Scheme and your rights relating to it, and of your and our contributions, will be provided to you separately.
Probationary period: 3 months.
Notice period: 2 months.
