Full Job Description

Hours: Part-time 17.5 hours per week

Work pattern: The working pattern will be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday one week and Monday and Tuesday the following week.

Location: Glasgow, Edinburgh or Dumfries and Galloway (home-based worker with travel requirements to Group offices).

Would you like to work for one of Scotland’s best communications teams?

Wheatley Group is Scotland’s leading housing, care and property-management company and is passionate about ‘Making homes and lives better’.

We have a part-time opportunity for an experienced communications professional to join our award-winning team.

This is a rare opportunity to join an innovative and hard-working team, working across both internal and external channels.

The role would ideally suit someone with experience of working in a busy communications/press office or someone with journalism experience in newspapers or media websites.

You will work with colleagues to deliver engaging content for the Group’s websites, social media channels and staff intranet.

Applicants with a keen interest in producing video content would be desirable, but not essential.

The ideal candidate will have excellent writing skills.

Internally, you will produce content, both written and digital, for our staff intranet and you’ll have a great eye for a story.

Externally, you’ll share the work Wheatley is doing to transform communities and change lives for the better.

The role includes providing, alongside other team members, a 24/7 on-call media service (on a rota-basis).

In addition, the successful candidate will be flexible, a real team player and multi-skilled with the ability to contribute across all areas of the team’s work, including planning and evaluating integrated PR campaigns, dealing with media enquiries, and writing press releases.

You’ll be creative, a stickler for accuracy and meeting deadlines. You’ll be an excellent ‘people person’ and be ready to go the extra mile to deliver outstanding services.

This is a demanding but rewarding role in a values-driven organisation that makes a difference to communities and people’s lives.

We actively celebrate our individual differences and recognise the collective strength this brings our organisation.

It’s important our teams represent the communities we serve, and we welcome applications from any under-represented groups.

Closing date: Thursday 10th April 2025 at 5pm.
