We’re looking for a seasoned writer and communicator with solid knowledge of the farming industry to lead our business desk. This is a leadership role, offering a fantastic opportunity to shape our coverage and drive growth in this vital area.

As Business Desk Editor, you’ll be responsible for reporting on Scotland’s livestock sales, agricultural shows, and producing feature interviews with family farms across the country. Your work will take you throughout Scotland, immersing you in all aspects of the livestock sector. An authentic passion for the cattle and sheep industries is essential, as is the ability to inspire others to share that enthusiasm. Knowledge of the pedigree cattle and sheep sectors is highly desirable.

This leadership role demands a strong digital-first mindset. You’ll need excellent time management and planning skills to coordinate coverage of Scotland’s busy agricultural show and sales seasons throughout the year.

Sharp business and editorial judgement are crucial, along with the ability to consistently meet deadlines.
