Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Commercial Marine business for the key role of Apprentice Quality Technician based at our Dalgety Bay site in Dunfermline. On site we manufacture stabiliser and steering gear systems for both commercial and naval customers as well as having the capability to service all commercial marine equipment in the UK. The successful candidate will support the Quality department with QA/QC activities - including inspection and testing control, calibration, quality documentation, NCR process and supplier development. - Development of Quality Plans & Inspection and Test Plans in accordance with customer, survey society and company requirements
- Support site with NCR process and ensure root cause and corrective actions are defined, including supplier NCR
- To ensure that the quality documentation requirements of the customer and Kongsberg Maritime Ltd are achieved within the Operations environment at Dunfermline
- Effectively support Quality Engineer with site Calibration requirements
- Assist in Factory Acceptance Tests in conjunction with Survey Society, customers and Kongsberg Maritime Ltd personnel
- Conduct supplier documentation reviews, including specification and certification and update company Quality Data Books accordingly
- To carry out goods in receiving inspection and associated documentation is confirmed and filed appropriately
- To raise NCRs promptly on discovering a non-conformance and to ensure that the material is identified and rectified prior to use in manufacture
- Maintain elements of the Technical Package of the product which clearly define the manufacturing process and control it effectively, culminating in product validation via the First Article Inspection process
- Analyse quality performance data to identify escalation requirements and improvement opportunities
- Work with interfacing teams (Engineering, Product Management, Site ME/Quality, etc) and suppliers to ensure technical requirements are understood
- Assist in compiling customer data books in accordance with Kongsberg Maritime Ltd and customer requirements
- Support Quality Inspection activities by developing planned inspection sheets / full dimensional reports and standard operating procedures (SOP)
- Carry out any other task within your capabilities as designated by your Line Manager
- Comply with company HS&E Policies and Procedures and identify risks and opportunities for improvement
A keen learner and self-motivated - Ability to understand the importance of good work ethic
- An aptitude for problem solving
- Ability to work as a team member in a busy environment Key Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 National 5 passes to include English, Maths and a Science/Technical Subject
- NC or a relevant Engineering or Educational Qualification
- Computer literacy - primarily Excel and Word, together with JobScope ERP system - not essential as training will be given.
- Good interpersonal, communication, Numeracy and IT skills
