Full Job Description

The Instrument Commissioning Technician will deliver a high quality, consistent and competent technician commissioning service in accordance with project/company requirements, standards and procedures The Technician will ensure all work scope is completed in a safe manner ensuring no detrimental impact to personnel, fabric or environment. To perform all required discipline tasks, safely, consistently and in accordance with project requirements, procedures and specifications will be the other major responsibility to handle. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities:

  • Read, understand and implement all applicable company / project policies, working practices and procedures, ensuring at all times that the technical workscope is completed safely and to a high standard
  • Complete all workscope in accordance with applicable work pack and associated procedures, documentation
  • Provide support to other trades/disciplines where required, or form part of an integrated multi-discipline team
  • Raising applicable Permit to Work (PTW) in order to complete workscope in a controlled and safe manner
  • Undertake appropriate RAMS in order to complete workscope in a safe and controlled manner
  • Provide support in the execution of commissioning activities within the bounds of Instrument discipline competency
  • Set a good personal example on HSSE issues within your area of operation
  • Take care of your own health, security and safety whilst at work, ensure your activities do not adversely affect the health, security and safety of others or damage the environment
  • Co-operate with the company in all matters of health, safety, security and environmental protection and make your contribution to reducing accidents and conserving natural resources
  • Ensure you have been fully briefed on, and have a good understanding of, the task at hand. Always work in accordance with the instructions given and any PTW and RAMS
  • Never deviate from an agreed method of working unless the supervisor or relevant manager has been notified and authorisation has been obtained
  • Ensure that you have and use the correct access, tools, equipment and personal protective equipment for the work
  • Report to immediate supervisor any defects in plant or equipment or unsafe methods of work and ensure that plant, equipment and premises are left in a safe and secure state and place when unattended. Do not operate any item of plant or equipment that has become defective
  • Report any work-related personal injury or disease to your immediate supervisor and ensure that an entry is made in the accident book at your place of work
  • If you are asked to undertake a task that you feel is unsafe or for which you feel you do not have the appropriate knowledge or training, stop the task and report to your immediate supervisor
  • If you see an unsafe act or condition, and it is safe to do so, intervene and stop the activity and explain the hazard

    Demonstrable experience post instrumentation apprenticeship / training coupled with current relative experience
  • Possesses a good understanding of safe working practices and can demonstrate commitment to safe working at all times
  • ONC (or equivalent) in technical Engineering an advantage
  • CompEx modules EX01 - EX04
  • Company mandatory training, induction, risk awareness etc
  • IEE 17th Edition (Electrical only)
  • Demonstrable experience in a Technical role
  • Able to demonstrate a commitment to HSSE
  • Possesses a good standard in spoken and written English
  • Possesses a good understanding of safe working practices and can demonstrate commitment to safe working at all times
  • Can demonstrate a high standard ability in the role of Commissioning Instrument Technician as defined in associated job specification
  • Ability to read / understand and implement procedures / specifications / drawings etc

    Wood is recruiting for 8 Instrument Commissioning Technicians for a 3 month outage at the Kirriemuir site in the North East of Scotland.
  • This is joining our Systems Integration team to support with commissioning and testing of and upgraded controls system. Position can be either PAYE or Ltd company outside IR35. Applicants must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check. #LI-Hybrid
