Project Manager | 12 Months (Inside IR35) | Edinburgh based - Hybrid working
Rate: circa 400 per day
Harvey Nash's client is recruiting for a Project Manager on a 12-month contract, who will play a crucial role in delivering secure, efficient and compliant digital solutions primarily overseeing of the project for those in their care. The post holder will ensure project governance in line with client approved project methodology. The project manager, reporting to the Head of Operations, will manage the project teams and work with all external and internal stakeholders to ensure project outcomes are delivered on time, to specification and budget. This role requires balancing innovation, security and compliance to ensure digital services improve efficiency while maintaining security goals.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the incremental delivery of secure, efficient and compliant digital solutions within a highly regulated environment. Lead the delivery of system changes and developments to systems including but not limited to current project and associated work. Identify, assess and manage project risks and issues. Drive cultural change and operational change within prisons to support digital adoption.
- Develop a comprehensive Project Plan outlining scope, timelines, resources and key milestones ensuring structured communication and reporting with project governance framework. Align digital services implementation with government policies, regulations and security protocols. Define and track Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) to measure success. Plan the work of the project team in accordance with the project plan. Manage the work of project team members engaged in project delivery and co-ordinate the work stream's outputs. Monitor system performance and user feedback for continuous improvement.
- Develop solution designs after consultation with process owners and business users/stakeholders, ensuring a shared understanding. This will involve working with process owners, documenting system requirements and reporting findings to the Project Board and/or any other steering group set up to manage the programme. Implement future proof solutions to adapt to evolving security threats and technological advancements.
- Engage with client authorities, I.T. teams, service providers and government agencies, ensuring transparent and quick communication. Address concerns from internal staff and legal bodies regarding digital transformation. Ensure user training and adoption, including for staff and stakeholders where applicable.
- Identify and continuously assess risks related to cybersecurity, data privacy, and unauthorised access, implementing feedback loops for ongoing improvement. Consider and mitigate risks related to cyber security, data privacy, and unauthorized access. Ensure compliance with regulations on digital communications, surveillance, and prisoner access. Work with security teams to integrate firewalls, monitoring tools and secure authentication methods.
- Oversee the deployment of secure communication tools, digital education platforms and case management systems, setting clear deliverables and deadlines. Ensure integration with existing management systems where applicable. Coordinate with vendors for software deployment, cloud infrastructure, and hardware installation.
Essential Skills
- Project Management Qualification.
- Proven track record of undertaking project roles within digital upgrade and implementation projects. Experience in developing technical briefs and documentation.
- Experience of successful deployment of infrastructure and services.
- Ensuring effective programme governance; reviewing and approving governance submissions and providing constructive feedback and advice on governance requirements and actions. Demonstrating the management of risk and the effective delivery of technical projects.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to clearly and transparently communicate issues and requirements via a range of mediums (written and verbal) to a wide audience both technical and non-technical.
- Accomplished people management skills with the ability to foster collaborative working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders demonstrating your ability to negotiate with and positively influence others to achieve desired results.
- Excellent decision-making skills with evidence of your ability to analyse complex issues, problem solve and produce credible recommendations by exercising a high level of initiative, judgement and discretion in deciding appropriate actions to be undertaken.
- Ability to deliver successful solutions within a backdrop of limited resources and challenging timescales within a demanding environment with minimum supervision.
