Renfrewshire is one of the larger authorities in Scotland with a population of 180,000 covering both urban and rural communities. Its area attracts major development opportunities and interests including Glasgow Airport, the major Riverside developments at Braehead and Renfrew, and the former Royal Ordnance Factory, Bishopton Community Growth Area together with an ambitious Council-led capital investment programme.
We are looking to recruit a building standards surveyor who will assess building warrant applications, carry out site inspections, determine completion certificates and provide assistance to members of the public on matters relating to Building Standards. The role also requires the successful candidate to participate in a dangerous building stand by rota.
You must have a degree or equivalent qualification in a construction related discipline and construction knowledge.
Considerable and relevant experience within a Local Authority Building Standards environment is essential as is effective oral and written communication skills, customer care skills, experience of plan assessment and inspecting construction works, effective I.T skills, and the ability to work to tight deadlines with the minimum of supervision.
The post provides an excellent opportunity for experienced and committed surveyors to contribute to the Council’s high quality service provision.
