Join Scotland’s Risk Management Authority, leading the way in risk assessment and risk management practice, working to keep the public safe from the risk of serious harm.
The Role
As Policy & Practice Lead with the RMA, you’ll sit within our management team and hold a strategic role in developing advice and recommendations for Scottish Ministers, the RMA Board and nationwide justice agencies working to make Scotland safer. You’ll take a leading role and hold responsibility in developing RMA policy based on research and effective practice evidence, including key policy work relating to the activity of the Criminal Justice Board. We’re looking for someone to take the lead in policy oversight of our training and education strategy and provide support to the continuous development of our approach to risk assessment and management planning.
To apply for this role, you should have a degree and ideally a relevant professional/post-graduate qualification, such as clinical or forensic psychology, law or social work. We expect you to have experience as a professional in a relevant agency or extensive experience of the duties and responsibilities of justice agencies, and advanced knowledge of justice policy and legislation.
The Organisation
The Risk Management Authority (RMA) is a non-departmental public body, established in 2006. A small team of less than 30, we aim to support our colleagues in as many ways as we can, embracing our values of learning, integrity, fairness and excellence. We’re currently working a 35-hour working week on a hybrid basis to allow for a better work/life balance, and we offer a flexible working policy and provide flexi time for all staff. As part of the Scottish Government, we’re pleased to be able to offer a wide range of benefits including 29 days’ annual leave plus 11 ½ public/privilege holidays you use flexibly at a time that suits you. Our colleagues are enrolled into the civil service pension scheme.
We really value the experience and expertise of our team. Supporting your professional development is a priority for us, and we’re proud to provide a generous CPD offering. We also provide an Employee Assistance Service (EAS) where you can get expert guidance 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, whether you’re experiencing issues at work or at home.
