Full Job Description
Support Worker
Job Reference: MH1290168GleSW
Location: Fife
Company: Real Life Options
Position Type: Full Time
Salary: £12.60 per hour
About the Role
At Real Life Options, we support our service users to live their life the way they choose, with a strong emphasis on person-centred care to enable our service users to live as independently as possible. We are recruiting for experienced support workers to support two men who have behaviours that challenge. These individuals live in their own homes and receive 1:1 support throughout the day.
The adults we support have intellectual disabilities which affect them in different ways and to different degrees. The ability to follow detailed support plans to ensure a consistent approach is essential. Staff will be able to learn different forms of communication and adapt to working with varying needs. Staff provide the people we support with the assistance to complete a structured daily planner. This includes support with:
- Personal care
- Medication
- Maintaining their homes
- Physical fitness
- Attending a variety of activities
At both services, the supported individuals regularly display challenging behaviour as follows:
- Repetitive and/or negative speech
- Targeting property
- Verbal abuse directed at staff
- Physically targeting of staff
- Self-injurious behaviour
Experience supporting intellectually disabled adults with behaviours that challenge is essential. Working with the people we support is incredibly rewarding. You will be part of a supportive, responsive and friendly team. We have an attrition rate of less than 10%, which is excellent for the sector and a reflection of what a good place this is to work.
