Division: Assets and Sustainability
Grade: SCP 36-39 (£46,036 - £50,266) per annum (from 1st of April 2025)
Wheatley Group is seeking two new Building Pathology Surveyors, to join our Asset Strategy team.
As a Building Pathology Surveyor, you will survey, assess, and provide recommended actions for complex challenges. These challenges will span all aspects of our property asset base, including issues related to damp, mould, condensation, complex archetypes such as multi storey flats, net zero, and district heating systems.
You will work closely with our asset, housing and repairs teams to provide technical expertise and guidance, ensuring we are compliant with relevant legislation and policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- carry out technical assessments to help address asset-related challenges, maximising the value of our properties across all of Wheatley Group;
- recommend required repairs and investment solutions based on your technical expertise, data, property condition, etc;
- engage with and lead colleagues through your technical expertise and commitment to providing the best solution for our properties and customers to identify and address building pathology issues;
- collaborate and build relationships with housing, repairs, investment, compliance, and damp and mould teams to meet the needs of our customers and business; and
- ensure solutions presented are value for money, including as part of wider investment plans.
Experience & Qualifications:
- professional understanding of building pathology, including the diagnosis and analysis of building defects, deterioration, and failures;
- demonstrable track record of investigating and developing repairs and investment solutions to address particular asset-related challenges;
- experience of contract/project management to ensure agreed outcomes are delivered from a customer and client perspective;
- experience of analysing property issues and recommending practical solutions;
- HND/Degree and/or professional qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience; and
- member of the RICS or demonstrable commitment that you meet requirements and are working towards.
The benefits we offer
As part of Wheatley Group, we offer a sector-leading benefits package.
The successful candidate will receive:
- a rewarding career with a competitive salary;
- access to a contributory pension scheme;
- excellent leave entitlements;
- enhanced maternity, paternity, adoption and shared parental leave;
- contributions towards dental, optical, driving lessons and more;
- access to staff inclusion networks promoting an inclusive workplace; and
- 24/7 access to our employee assistance programme.
The role will involve working from home, with travel requirements to customers’ homes, group properties and offices across Glasgow and the west, therefore a driving licence is required.
This post is subject to a Basic Disclosure check.
