Full Job Description

THIS POST HAS AN ANNUAL PAY AWARD PENDING

At CrossReach, we believe every child and young person deserves to feel safe, nurtured and genuinely cared for. As a Relief Support Practitioner, you’ll play a vital role in delivering that care stepping in when needed to provide consistency, connection and kindness in homes where it truly matters.

What you’ll do:
You’ll support children and young people who’ve had a tough start in life, offering day-to-day care and meaningful connections in a way that supports their emotional, social and physical wellbeing. Whether you're encouraging them to cook a meal, join in a game, get involved in their local community, or just simply be there when they need someone you’ll be a source of support and strength.

Every shift will be different, but your goal will always be the same: to provide a nurturing, safe, and positive environment where children and young people can thrive. You’ll bring a calm presence, a caring nature, and a big heart plus a good sense of humour never goes amiss!

What we’re looking for:
* Someone who connects well with children and young people, understanding that relationships are everything.
* Experience in care or education or lived experience that’s helped shape your empathy and resilience.
* A reflective approach and a passion for doing what’s right, not what’s easy.
* Excellent communication and recording skills (yes, even the paperwork has purpose).
* A Manual driving licence you’ll be taking young people to appointments, activities and family visits.
* Registration with the SSSC or a willingness to gain your HNC Social Care and SVQ Level 3 to get there.

What you’ll gain:
* Flexibility work the shifts that suit you while still making a real difference.
* Training that supports you to be the best version of yourself including therapeutic crisis intervention and child development.
* Support from a passionate, purpose-driven team who are all working together to build brighter futures.
* A chance to live out your values in a role where faith, love and compassion take centre stage.

At CrossReach, we work in Christ’s name, and our Christian ethos underpins everything we do. If you’re kind, grounded and up for the challenge of working in children’s services, we’d love to hear from you.

CrossReach has been at the forefront of high quality social care for over 150 years, providing loving care to people of all ages and supporting them to live life to the full whatever their circumstances. During that time, we have worked hard to understand the needs of the people who turn to us for help and with them have been at the forefront of pioneering services which have literally changed thousands of lives for the better.

Today we are one of the largest social care providers in Scotland, with experience across a broad range of services. We are still growing, learning, and improving, thanks to the incredible people we have the privilege to support, and all those who support us. We are part of the Church of Scotland and aim to provide social care services and specialist resources in Christ’s name to further the caring work of the Church to people in challenging circumstances.

As we do our work in Christ’s name you must be respectful of our Christian Ethos and be able to work within it.

This post requires you to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and undertake the necessary vetting checks. You will also be required to be registered with SSSC and it is your professional responsibility to ensure that you meet the standards and criteria for registration.

We have a legal obligation to ensure that we do not employ any worker who has not been granted the relevant permission to work in the UK. This permission is without exception granted by UK Visas and Immigrations. We are required to check the entitlement to work in the UK of all prospective employees, regardless of nationality or job category.

We are committed to ensuring that we attract, retain, and develop the very best people to build a diverse and talented team and we recognise that every individual’s unique background, experience and ability contributes to our success. We aim to create an inclusive and inspiring environment where individuals feel valued and respected and where people can belong, thrive and be their very best, whoever they are.
