Full Job Description
NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
We will fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.
NHS Lothian is the second largest health board in Scotland and provides a comprehensive range of primary, community-based, and acute hospital services, employing over 24,000 staff providing healthcare services to 800,000 people in Edinburgh, Midlothian, East Lothian and West Lothian.
NHS Lothians Procurement Department is looking for an enthusiastic Lead Buyer to join a high-achieving, ambitious and supportive team, dedicated to providing our clinicians with value-added procurement solutions and the very best care for our patients.
We are looking for team players who will share our values and will enjoy the challenges of working in a fast-paced environment, playing a key role in supporting stakeholders, analysing spend data and delivering best value procurement options aligned to compliance with public procurement regulations and NHS Lothians standing financial instructions. Excellent verbal and written communication and MS Excel skills will be essential to the role.
These are permanent full-time positions (37.5 hours per week), but we will also consider part-time applicants.
NHS Lothian supports flexible working patterns.
NHS Lothian is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our staff. Our aim is for you to feel respected, appreciated and able to give your best. You can expect to enjoy the usual benefits of working in an organisation that values its people, including generous holidays, excellent pension scheme, investment in your ongoing professional development, family friendly provisions, staff discounts and a wide variety of other benefits. Our Procurement department has a proven track record of internal promotions and offers a scope for progression.
You must have eligibility and entitlement to work in the UK which is required to be maintained throughout your period of employment. This must be evidenced in your application.
