Full Job Description

Peace Recruitments client, a professional property management company based in Scotland and Ireland are looking for a Development Inspector to come on board and join their Edinburgh team.

The Development Inspector has direct ownership for contracts and contractors undertaking all works including reactive repairs, planned preventative maintenance, landscape maintenance and advise on any larger projects which may need undertaking in the residential market. This role is key to ensuring that all developments are managed and maintained on a ‘Developments Like New’ basis.

Part of a Cross Functional with the focus of collaborating together to provide excellent client service

Specifically the Property Inspector has a direct ownership for identifying and building positive working relationships with all approved contractors providing service to all developments within the portfolio and proactively engaging with the contractors as a part of the wider team. Routinely providing feedback to the contractor on their performance both with routine work and larger remedial works.

In having a direct ownership for the development carrying out routine inspections (including common areas and common grounds within the demise) on an allocated portfolio of developments in accordance with the agreed inspection cycle. Creating bespoke inspection reports, being aware of and recording common interests, key contractor information and contract details, development defects, quality of previous repairs and maintenance issues.

Skills

  • You will have practical knowledge and expertise of building and construction including associated legal and regulatory frameworks and aspects of compliance such as health & safety requirements
  • You will have experience with building and development component parts and materials and can effectively compare with drawings and specifications.
  • You will have experience in leading and managing remedial repairs identifying defects ascertaining best options and associated costs to correct them. This to include drafting scope of works and/or specifications.
  • You will have a competence in keeping records of work, monitoring progress and providing appropriate reports including invitation to tender and tender reports.
  • You will have experience in liasing and building relationships with contractors, engineers, surveyors and other property professionals.
  • You work well in a team environment and can give examples of your contribution.
  • You prioritise excellent client service and can demonstrate examples of this.
  • You must be an excellent face to face and telephone communicator and be a competent writer of business letters.
  • You will have a detailed working experience of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Microsoft Outlook.
  • You will have a full driving licence.
