Salary range:  £22,448-£22,867 per annum (plus 15% annual allowance)

FTE:  1.0 (35 hours per week)

A permanent position at the University of Strathclyde, Estates Services is seeking to recruit a Maintenance Assistant. The successful candidate will be required to access equipment at height while maintaining electrical installations both internally and externally and to carry out general handyperson duties. There is a requirement to assist other sections if required. The post is required to work a night/day shift which provides an additional allowance in accordance with the University’s terms and conditions. The night shift is Sunday to Thursday 10pm to 6.30am with 1 hour lunch break, working 4 weeks nights followed by 4 weeks day shift of 8am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday.

Assist in the repair, maintenance, statutory testing and installation of electrical services within University buildings. This includes fault finding and diagnosis of problems ahead of electrician’s attendance. Also undertake a range of other duties across the remit of Estates Services Operations Team to assist with resources planning and scheduling in other trade disciplines.
