Full Job Description

As a Cable Engineer, you'll be responsible leading and coordinating electrical engineering deliverables for development and construction of offshore wind generation projects within the SSE Renewables business.
Some of your main responsibilities will include:
-Front-end electrical engineering design works associated with HV and EHV land and subsea cable networks for use in project consenting and financial modelling activities.
-The development of electrical package contract documentation including management and preparation of cable specifications. Writing, reviewing and updating technical specifications for electrical cable work packages on offshore wind generation projects
-Coordinating and managing project electrical cable engineering works, ensuring correct technical specifications are prepared and applied to offshore wind generation projects
-Reviewing external contractor's and consultant's specifications and documentation for the procurement of long lead equipment, ensuring SSE Renewables requirements are achieved.
-Interpreting project objectives and requirements to develop the most appropriate techno-commercial design solution and technology choice.
You'll also be required to manage 3rd parties, ensuring the effective delivery of specific engineering and design works required within the cable work package, along with the quality management and verification of their work and outcomes.

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated HV and EHV Cable Engineer with proven technical experience associated with design, installation, commissioning and fault analysis of land and subsea cable networks up to and including 400kV. Your background will preferably be in offshore wind farm projects, specialising in cable networks.
You will be a Chartered Engineer and a member of the Engineering Council or working towards this goal, possessing strong technical knowledge and experience of renewable electricity generation including technical knowledge of offshore wind generation cable systems and their operation.
You'll need sound working knowledge of appropriate engineering legislation and industry good practice, along with an understanding of effective organisation capabilities needed to deliver quality work to the agreed timescales.
Excellent commercial awareness will also be essential in order to understand implications of engineering activities and decisions.
As a person, you'll pride yourself on your excellent organisational skills and ability to deliver the highest quality of work within the necessary timescales. Your outstanding communication and interpersonal skills also give you the ability to communicate at various managerial levels within the business

Base Location:Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK or Ireland sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, Havant, Belfast or Dublin.
Salary: £55,200 - £83,000 depending upon experience + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family..
