An opportunity has arisen to join Perth and Kinross Council Inclusion Service, a key service within the Education and Children's Service.

This service has an ambitious improvement agenda focused on embedding excellent inclusive practice across our education settings.

We are recruiting a Peripatetic Primary Pupil Support Teacher (PPST) to help us shape and deliver support that enables children with additional support needs to learn and achieve to their potential.

The post may support learning for children in several Primary Schools.

Requirements

You should have significant learning and teaching experience within a primary mainstream setting and understand excellent inclusive practice.

You should have recent relevant experience working with learners with ASN and a depth of knowledge and understanding of a range of learning differences and appropriate interventions.

You will have excellent communication skills and demonstrate that you can work collaboratively with colleagues to assess and develop plans to support a range of learning needs.

You must have a valid UK driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.

Responsibilities

The Peripatetic Primary Pupil Support Teacher appointed will be expected to use their significant knowledge and skills around the five roles to contribute to:

  • The identification and assessment of children with a wide range of Additional Support Needs (ASN).
  • Supporting and guiding the planning and delivery of appropriate learning and teaching.
  • Modelling good practice through cooperative and direct teaching.
  • Developing and leading professional learning that together builds the skills and capacity of school staff.
  • Work in partnership with other specialist services to meet the needs of learners, and provide consultation opportunities to staff and parents.

The Individual

This is a peripatetic role; therefore, you will be expected to support any primary school across Perth and Kinross Council, with flexibility of movement as and when necessary.
