Full Job Description

This position will have no set parameters as the role dictates that the commitment required enables decisions to be taken daily to enable the smooth running of all aspects of the Depot(s) and Area. The overall objective is to work with the Depot Team(s) to maintain the plant equipment to a high standard. To assist with maintenance in Depot(s) on their sites and workshops as required. To provide holiday support cover for Depot(s) as required. To keep the Depot(s) tidy and a safe place to work for all employees and visitors. To service and maintain all equipment to a high standard ready for hire. As a Group we aim to improve communication in all aspects of Division. This alongside the Investors In People initiative should be encouraged and monitored. Responsibilities: To include, but not limited to: Generally

  • Undertake high quality repairs and maintenance work in accordance with regulations and legislation
  • Undertake fault-finding and diagnostic work as required to repair and maintain hire fleet equipment.
  • Completion of all relevant documentation and ensure processes are completed in a timely manner
  • Inspection, Servicing and testing of equipment both in workshop and on site as required
  • Service and Repair of Hire Fleet equipment within the depot;
  • To make off-hired equipment ready for re-hire;
  • To support 24/7 call out Rota and to respond to call-outs when needed;
  • To work closely with the Depot Foreman and Manager to act quickly where problems arise to establish an open system of communication to ensure the consistent treatment of problems.
  • To adhere to all Health and Safety Procedures within the workshop environment;
  • Specifically
  • To work on the repair and maintenance of all hire fleet equipment
  • To service, repair and overhaul equipment and associated components both within the depot, at customer premises and third party sites;
  • To assess off-hired hire fleet equipment and judge the level of repair needed;
  • To assist with the loading and unloading of hire fleet equipment onto the lorry for deliveries through the use of both Forklift Truck and manual loading.
  • To be on the 24 Hour on-call service Rota within the Depot;
  • To ensure all equipment is serviced and maintained to a high standard;
  • To report any major problems within the equipment to the Foreman/Depot Supervisor;
  • To attend customer call outs and deal with any issue that arise
  • Provide support to our Depot Team(s) with any relevant maintenance issues.
  • Conduct work in accordance with all current legislations, codes of practice and British Standards.
  • Ensure adherence to all Company Policies and Procedures. Be fully conversant and compliant with all Environmental Health and Safety procedures. Complete quarterly ethics module as advised by Ethics & Compliance Officer (ECO) Fully comply with all Quality, Environmental Health and Safety directives including but not limited to PPE, Accident Reporting, Cardinal Rules, Risk Assessment Method Statement (RAMS), and Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE).

    To work as a skilled Plant Service Engineer across the regions Depot locations as required. To be available to travel and work away from home as required. Sound technical knowledge of diesel Plant Hire equipment, maintenance and testing procedures, alongside excellent planning and organizational skills. All records and documentation to be kept up to date to ensure the depot is consistently compliant. Working in a field-based capacity applicants must have a full UK driving license.
