Site Operations and Maintenance Coordinator

Location: Remote with site based travel

Eden Scott are supporting their Renewable Energy Client with the appointment of a Site Operations and Maintenance Coordinator to join their Asset Management Team.

This represents an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in operations or maintenance of power plant or electrical equipment to assume responsibility for the smooth and efficient operation of 6 renewable energy sites in Scotland.

ABOUT GreenPower

GreenPower is a renewable energy company, developing, constructing, owning and operating wind, hydro, solar, and hydrogen power projects across the UK. As part of our growth plans we are seeking to employ a Site Operations and Maintenance Coordinator to support our Operations and Asset Management team who are responsible for delivering bespoke operational management services across the portfolio of projects. Most assets are owned by GreenPower, with some projects jointly owned with investment funds and some managed on behalf of a third party client.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The purpose of this post is for the to be responsible for general site management, being the first point of contact for day-to-day operational matters. The post holder will take the lead in ensuring the sites are operated safely with a view to maximising generation, minimising downtime and controlling costs.

The Site Operations and Maintenance Coordinator will help manage and coordinate contractors and suppliers carrying out their specialist works on our sites. This will include work scheduling and monitoring, maintaining work logs and tracking progress to fault response and repairs. Occasionally, the post holder will be expected to follow up on progress of works or receive calls outside of regular working hours to ensure timely fault response resolutions.

The Site Operations and Maintenance Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring high quality of health and safety practice, providing site inductions, toolbox talks and ensuring that safe systems of work are established for all site activities.

The Site Operations and Maintenance Coordinator will closely collaborate with other members of the Operations and Asset Management team in providing guidance and information on site matters that delivers compliance, qualitative reporting and performance analysis on the projects.

The Site Operations and Maintenance Coordinator will also support the important relationships we have with our landowners and local communities, and being the staff member most regularly on site, will often be the face of the company.

The Site Operations and Maintenance Coordinator will be expected to travel to our sites on a regular basis and in some cases, this may require evening & weekend working and overnight stays. The sites are often located in remote and hilly areas and the post holder will need to be comfortable working in isolation and sometimes in poor weather conditions.

Cost control is important for the operational sites and the Site Operations and Maintenance Coordinator will be expected to monitor actual spend against planned expenditure.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Site Operations and Maintenance Coordinator duties will include:

  • Planning and managing site work schedules.
  • Conducting inductions and toolbox talks.
  • Maintaining good health and safety practice in general including carrying out on-site adhoc high level H&S audits of 3rd party contractors.
  • Conducting regular general site inspections and maintaining records of condition and managing specialist contractors where required to conduct more detailed inspections.
  • Monitoring production and operations regularly through SCADA etc so that any faults can be responded to quickly and downtime minimised, plus expediting plant start-ups after system faults.
  • Managing regular maintenance works to site equipment and infrastructure.
  • Managing ongoing habitat management or environmental mitigation works.
  • Ensuring building/site security and safety systems are maintained in good working order.
  • Maintaining project inspection records and maintenance logs.
  • Providing timely reporting on completed and scheduled works.
  • Managing and in some cases undertaking minor maintenance works, including cleaning hydro intakes, replacing building water supply filters & lighting, weed management etc.
  • Supporting our relationships with landowners, local communities and project stakeholders.

ABOUT THE CANDIDATE

Essential Qualifications, Skills, Experience, Knowledge & Understanding


  • Experience in operations and maintenance of power plant, electrical equipment or renewable energy sites
  • Formal training in health and safety and in the implementation of health and safety on operational sites
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with fluency in English.
  • Experience of producing accurate, succinct and informative inspection reports, including photographic records.
  • Proficient use of Windows based IT systems and basic office software such as emails (Outlook), word processing (Word), spreadsheets (Excel) and PowerPoint.
  • Effective time-management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Full UK driving licence

  • Desirable Qualifications, Skills, Experience, and Knowledge & Understanding


  • Experience with accessing and interrogating SCADA systems.
  • Experience and training in the Wind Turbine Safety Rules
  • Familiarity with HV safety rules.
  • Experience of the operations or maintenance of wind farms
  • Experience using non-specialist light duty power and hand tools to undertake minor works safely.
  • First aid qualification and other H&S related certifications such as manual handling, managing HSE at work
  • GWO Working at Height certification (or willingness to acquire).

  • TERMS AND CONDITIONS

    • Salary: 25,000 to 35,000 per annum, depending on experience.
    • Contracted hours: 37.5 hours per week.
    • Working hours: Our normal office hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm.
    • As Site Operations and Maintenance Coordinator you will need to attend sites at times that suit contractors and works taking place and this will entail early starts and/or late finishes. Therefore, your working hours will require to be flexible and agreed with your manager.
    • From time to time, you may be required to work out with and/or in excess
    • of your normal working hours. Remuneration for such additional hours is already contained within the salary.
    • Location of work: Home based with site based travel and occasional travel to HQ in Alloa.
    • The nature of this post will require staying away from home on occasions.
    • Annual leave: This post carries a holiday entitlement of 25 days personal leave, plus 12 statutory holidays / office closure days per annum.
    • Sick pay: Occupational sick pay available.

This is subject to pension auto-enrolment rules and therefore a small contribution may also be required from employees depending on your applicable salary. Salary sacrifice available.
