PURPOSE To teach assigned classes and carry out related activities and developments following local, national and school policies and under the direction of the headteacher.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Teach assigned class together with associated preparation and correction
• Play a part in developing school curriculum as appropriate to the School Improvement Plan and other identified areas
• Assess, record and report on the work of pupils
• Provide advice and guidance to pupils on issues related to their education
• Promote and safeguard the health, welfare and safety of pupils
• Work in partnership with parents, support staff and other professionals
•Undertake appropriate and agreed continuing professional development
• Participate in issues related to school planning, raising achievement and individual pupil review Contribute to community and corporate aspects of school life
RESOURCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the headteacher. This profile is indicative of the nature and level of responsibility associated with the post. It is not exhaustive and the post holder may be required to undertake such other duties as may be required by the Service Director for Children & Young People to meet the needs and responsibility of the Service and the Council.
• A degree (B.Ed/PGCE/PGDE) or Diploma in Primary Teaching
• Full registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (or an assurance that full registration will be forthcoming)
A current driving licence and use of a vehicle is an essential requirement of this post. * If you have a disability which precludes you from holding a drivers licence, Scottish Borders Council will take into account its responsibility to make reasonable adjustments to allow for your disability.
