Full Job Description
Job Title: Section Engineer
Location: Orkney
Project: Orkney Transmission Link
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Section Engineer to join an established team for the design and installation of a high voltage alternating current (HVAC) transmission system between Finstown in Orkney and Dounreay in Caithness. This system will be capable of transmitting at least 220MW of power.
Your Role: Based at the new substation in Finstown, Orkney. Accommodation and travel expenses will be covered by the contractor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee engineering tasks, ensuring timely and budget-friendly completion.
- Coordinate with project managers, site supervisors, and other engineering teams to streamline activities.
- Develop and implement detailed engineering plans, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.
- Monitor and report on project progress, addressing any issues that arise.
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and subcontractors to ensure smooth communication and project delivery.
- Ensure all health, safety, and environmental policies are adhered to on-site.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits, maintaining high standards of quality control.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Section Engineer or similar role, preferably within large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, engineering principles, and project management.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools.
- A valid CSCS card and relevant health and safety certifications.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
