This is not just another Games. Glasgow 2026 is reimagining the future of major sporting events – championing sustainability, innovation, and legacy. We’re looking for bold, driven individuals to help us set a new standard.

One of our key leadership positions is now open:

The Role: Head of Security & Event Safety

This is a unique and senior-level opportunity to lead the planning and delivery of a safe, secure, and world-class Commonwealth Games. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Head of Security & Event Safety will lead the Security, Safety & Medical Functional Area, working across all venues and event phases. You’ll collaborate with key partners including Commonwealth Sport, Police Scotland, local authorities, and emergency services.

You’ll be responsible for developing and overseeing the integrated safety and security strategies that ensure a seamless, enjoyable experience for athletes, spectators, and the global community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver strategic and tactical safety, security, and medical plans.
  • Lead operational planning across multiple venues and stakeholders.
  • Oversee risk management, crisis response, and readiness programmes.
  • Drive stakeholder alignment and integration across the Games.
  • Represent the Games’ safety functions at executive and governmental levels.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Extensive senior-level experience in event security and public safety, ideally in large-scale, multi-venue events.
  • Strong background in crowd safety management, with a formal Level 4 or 5 qualification.
  • Proven ability to build and lead cross-functional teams in complex, high-pressure environments.
  • Solid knowledge of UK security legislation, licensing, and emergency protocols.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and crisis leadership skills.
  • Experience working within command structures and coordinating with national security agencies.

Desirable:

  • Qualifications in CT Risk Management, NEBOSH or CIMOSH.

Why Join Glasgow 2026?

This is more than a job – it’s a once-in-a-generation opportunity to be part of a global celebration of sport, unity, and innovation. You’ll help deliver an inclusive, forward-thinking, and legacy-driven Games that puts Glasgow on the world stage.

Join a passionate, collaborative team creating a bold new chapter in Commonwealth Games history.
