Full Job Description
Procurement Manager
Greater Glasgow Area (car required)
Salary: £DOE and flexible
Pertemps is delighted to bring to market a brand new and exclusive Procurement Manager role with a leading FMCG focussed business on the outskirts of Glasgow.
This is a commercially focussed role offering a great opportunity to lead procurement in a business where what you buy, and how well you buy it, directly impacts performance and growth.
We are seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to lead and develop our buying function at a pivotal time in our company’s growth expansion. This is a unique opportunity to drive cost efficiencies, optimise stock management, and play a key role in introducing new product lines that support the company’s long-term strategy.
Reporting directly to the Site General Manager and managing a small but experienced buying team, you will take full ownership of procurement operations, supplier negotiations, stock optimisation, and supporting cross-functional collaboration with both Sales and Production teams.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Lead, mentor and manage the buying team to meet performance targets and KPIs.
- Monitor and optimise stock levels across chilled, ambient, and frozen categories, ensuring availability and stock efficiency.
- Negotiate and establish supplier agreements including fixed contracts and consignment pricing.
- Collaborate with the Sales team on demand forecasting and product lifecycle planning.
- Oversee accurate chilled stock ordering and management in line with sales trends and forecasting.
- Support onboarding of new product lines and ensure robust supply chains are in place.
- Develop strong relationships with suppliers and key contacts across the wider group to leverage purchasing power.
- Support the delivery of business targets through efficient procurement strategies.
About you
You should come from a background where you have experience of the following:
- Strong negotiation skills and commercial awareness.
- Proven experience managing procurement or buying functions in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent planning, attention to detail, and communication skills.
- Strong IT proficiency and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
- Experience of leading and developing people.
Desirable:
- Background in the food/drinks industry, hospitality or FMCG sector.
- Experience liaising with suppliers to drive value and maintain strong partnerships.
- Knowledge of stock control systems and procurement best practices.
Procurement is recognised as a core driver of our success and viewed in this business as of equal in importance to sales. In this role, you’ll have a genuine opportunity to shape procurement strategy, influence company performance, and work with autonomy as part of a forward-thinking leadership team. You’ll also benefit from a clear progression path and a business culture focused on continuous improvement and high standards.
This role is based on site and therefore a car/own transport are required along with a willingness to be based in the office 5 days a week.
You will benefit from working under a highly experienced leader with a management style which encourages autonomy and growth. This is a key role with high profile visibility across the business, and as such, the successful candidate should be self confident, articulate, and resilient to ensure that procurement is placed at the heart of the business operations.
The company is in a strong position, and has ambitious further plans for growth and development. This role is a key appointment in that process and offers a unique, exciting opportunity to shape the buying function and impact on the business directly.
