We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join Protective Services in one of the most beautiful and rapidly growing areas of Scotland with over 40 miles of magnificent coastline, rolling countryside, high quality food and drink, world-renowned links golf courses and excellent links to Edinburgh city centre.
The Environmental Compliance Officer post is a newly established post within a small but dynamic Environmental Health team undertaking a range of duties that protect public health from environmental impacts.
You will be responsible for undertaking a range of duties which support the Environmental Health team in meeting relevant local and national standards and aobligations in areas such as Local Air Quality Management, Contaminated Land, Development Management and Statutory Nuisances such as noise, smoke odour etc.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate relevant academic knowledge in relation to environmental science/ engineering and will have excellent communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team to meet shared objectives. You will also need to hold a full current driving licence.

Job Details
Actively contribute to achieving the aim of Protective Services in promoting, protecting and enhancing the health, safety and wellbeing of people living, working and spending time in East Lothian and to support Council services in managing the risks associated with delivering and maintaining services in our local communities.
To provide technical and specialist support to the Team Manager in fulfilling the Council’s statutory duties in relation to environmental compliance including contaminated land, local air quality management, noise control and other environmental issues. This will be carried out through monitoring, inspection and sampling activities, investigation of complaints and incidents, assessment and review of technical information, provision of technical advice and report writing.

Job Requirements
Relevant Qualifications
Educated to HND level in a relevant scientific discipline or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
Driving Licence
As the duties of this role require you to effectively travel to successfully undertake the full remit of the role, you must hold a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle.*
