Personal Assistants (Support Workers) have the most important role within Enable by making a positive difference every day to the lives of the people we support. No two days are the same for our Personal Assistants but what we can guarantee is that you will be supporting someone with a learning disability to achieve their goals and outcomes – whatever they may be!

Each person we support has different support needs, so your role as Support Worker may include assisting them with various aspects of personal care, moving and handling or positive behavioural support whilst expanding their social networks and connections.

Enable creates a bespoke team around every individual we support, and our team of Personal Assistants work collaboratively to ensure the safety, wellbeing and aspirations of the people we support are met.

Let us introduce you to Harley and Amanda:

Harley is a lovely, chatty young lady, she recently moved into her new shared residence. She enjoys going to Hearts football games with her dad. Harley likes to play Xbox, watch scary movies, listen to music and spending time with her friends and family. She has many friends from various local groups that she participates in. Harley also likes to go to the cinema, pubs and entertainment shows. She would like a personal assistant who is fun, non judgemental and a little unconventional.

Amanda is a funny, loveable woman. She enjoys going to local activity groups such as dancing, singing and drumming. She is well known in the local community for her bubbly personality. Amanda needs an active Personal assistant who will support her to attend local groups, swimming, shopping centres, and short walks. Amanda has her own car, and she loves going for drives with her staff, so a driver is essential.

Both ladies live together and get along very well, they are firm friends. Overnight support is shared but they have individual support during the day throughout the week to explore their own interests.
