Full Job Description
Applications are invited on a fixed term basis from an experienced adviser who will provide trauma and intersectional informed support, advice and guidance to students of the University of Edinburgh who are experiencing or have experienced gender-based violence (GBV), including but not limited to sexual abuse, domestic abuse, stalking and harassment.
The Opportunity:
You will have the opportunity to work as part of a small team, working closely with colleagues within the University, Students Association & Sports Union; Student and Staff Health & Wellbeing Services (Counselling Services, Student Wellbeing Service, Chaplaincy, Disability and learning Support Service); Academic Services and key partners to ensure trauma and intersectional informed support is offered to students following any report or disclosure of GBV or harassment .
The post is fixed term from January 2025 to 31 December 2025 to provide maternity cover.
This a full time post (35 hours per week) and you would be expected to work five days per week, at least three days per week on campus.
A degree or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant field or equivalent relevant experience acquired through a combination of job related training and considerable on the job experience.
Comprehensive knowledge of the work practices, processes and procedures relevant to the role of support, advice and advocacy to survivors of gender based violence, abuse and harassment and a clear gendered analysis of the causes and impact of gendered based violence.
Knowledge of service processes and practices required to provide first line advice, safety planning, guidance, and support of a specialised nature.
Skills and experience in assessment of risk, safety planning and working with people affected by violence and abuse, including experience of safeguarding people at high risk of harm.
