Full Job Description

We have a unique opportunity within BEAR Scotland to join us as a Learning & Development Officer. Based in our Perth office, covering the whole business, both staff and operatives.


The North West Unit covers a huge area of Scotland, from Thurso and Wick in the very north of the Highlands down to Campbeltown in Argyll and Bute, from Uig on Skye to Perth and Stirling in the central belt. The South East Trunk Road Unit spans 506km through some of the busiest sections of the country, from central Scotland to through the Scottish Borders. It includes routes such as the Edinburgh City Bypass, as well as a large section of the M8 connecting Edinburgh to Glasgow.


The Learning and Development Officer is a permanent post within the IMS department to provide a centralised service for the co-ordination of training, management of training records to fulfil business and contract requirements.


Responsibilities and Activities:

  • Coordinating the training for all employees
  • Responsible for coordination and administration with staff and supply chain providers
  • Development and maintaining training calendars
  • Liaising with Managers to ensure attendance of planned training events
  • Ensure accurate records are maintained within the management system and communicated across the business
  • Conducting comprehensive evaluation of all training and production of business reports
  • Identification of funding / grants / developments in relation to training
  • Liaison with awarding bodies, e.g CITB, Lantra, CSCS, etc
  • Identification and processing of grant claims
  • Production and issue of training certificates / skills cards
  • Working in accordance with management system processes
  • Production of monthly training report including training completed, planned for month ahead
  • Maintain approved training supply chain register
  • Ability to work to timescales
  • As the above list of duties is illustrative and not exhaustive, the post holder will be required to undertake other duties commensurate with the role as directed by the IMS Manager

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Project a professional company image
  • Previous administration experience is essential preferably within a Learning and Development environment
  • Excellent IT skills, particularly MS Excel, Word and Powerpoint
  • Knowledge of budgets
  • Excellent communication skills including report writing
  • Ability to plan and organise
  • Capable to self-manage work and self-motivate
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Customer focused with excellent interpersonal skills
