Full Job Description

We have one permanent vacancy within the Improve Plant Department working on dayshift. The Project Control Manager's responsibilities in a nutshell: effective development and control in the area of project cost estimation, project scheduling, budget, progress, and financial control of all site capital projects. Responsible for improving capital stewardship by improving capital efficiency. At dsm-firmenich, being a force for good is not optional.   • Decision/economic analysis (i.c.w. Corporate Finance & Economics):
  • Financial Outcomes (NPV, CFROI, payout etc.)
  • Strength/Weakness/Opportunity/Threats (SWOT-) Analysis
  • Decision hierarchy, strategy table, influence diagram etc.
  • Cost estimating:
  • Assessment of scope definition
  • Development/assessment of project cost estimates
  • Definition/assessment of accuracy of project cost estimate
  • Definition/evaluation of risks, contingencies
  • Development of overall budget for project execution
  • Planning/Scheduling:
  • Definition of project schedule, milestones, and network planning
  • Assignment of duration and resources to activities
  • Critical path analysis
  • Resource loaded critical path schedule (prior to project funding)
  • Comparison actual schedule to target schedule and administration of corrective actions
  • Benchmarking:
  • Benchmark current- against equivalent projects
  • Setting challenging project performance targets
  • Effective Cost Control/Forecasting:
  • Track budget
  • Report expenditures and commitments against a work break down structure
  • Administration of scope change management
  • Cash flow management
  • Use trending techniques to forecast final project cost
  • Effective Project Progress Control:
  • Performance measurement
  • Project progress measurement (engineering-, procurement-, contracting-, construction-, scope change- progress versus the plan)
  • Progress reporting (current and accurate information of project plan)
  • Assessment of project schedules and progress reports developed by engineering contractors and feedback to Senior Project Manager.
  • Interacting with Contracting/Procurement departments:
  • Contracting and procurement plans
  • Identifying bidders, pre-qualification, bidding, awarding administration and close out.
  • Finance/Audit:
  • Administration of accurate cost data
  • Asset accounting (capital and expense)
  • Support a finance audit.
  • Project Close outs
  • Evaluation lessons learned
  • Input into benchmark data
  • Tools/work processes:
  • Benchmarking
  • Development/definition of project key parameters ("metrics") for project scheduling and cost engineering related to studies, conceptual design and preliminary engineering, basic engineering, up to and including EPC project phases and revamps.
  • Development, definition and implementation of project control methods, -tools and work processes
  • Liaising with the engineering community within HNC and dsm-firmenich.
  • Other aspects:
  • Contribution to Total Quality Control
  • Coaching, training and consultancy of Project Managers

    The successful candidate will be a graduate with an appropriate engineering degree and a minimum of 5 years relevant industrial experience.
