You will have the opportunity to benefit from our flexible and agile working practices. This means you will work from home for part of your week and spend some time in council buildings to best suit your work, meetings and collaboration.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Tree Officer to join our Landscape Services team and contribute to the sustainable management of our green spaces and urban woodlands. We are responsible for managing over 160 hectares of woodlands and 24,500 trees in parks and other open spaces, aiming to provide and maintain safe, attractive and accessible green spaces to be enjoyed by all. You will demonstrate a high level of experience as an arboricultural specialist working within a parks environment, giving effective advice on all tree related matters. You will be confident in assessing tree health and safety matters, maintaining tree asset records and developing various arboricultural projects.
Key responsibilities:
• Undertake arboricultural assessments and surveys, provide tree work reports and administer tree databases
• Provide advice and respond to arboriculture related enquiries, while ensuring compliance with professional best practice, Council policies and health and safety legislation
• Develop the Council’s woodland management plans further
• Assist in sourcing funding opportunities and plan woodland management projects based on management plans
• Design and supervise planting and maintenance projects related to trees and woodlands
• Prepare and manage applications, documentation and consultation on behalf of Angus Council in terms of forestry policy and regulations
• Support and lead tree planting works in collaboration with members of the community.
The salary placement will be in line with the Tree Officer career grade structure for this post.
