Full Job Description
Location: Glasgow and surrounding areas
Division: Assets and Sustainability
Grade: SCP 57-60 (£76,544 - £82,130) per annum (from 1st of April 2025)
Are you passionate about solving complex building challenges and leading a team of experts? Wheatley Group are looking for a dynamic and experienced Building Pathology Lead to join our asset team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee a team of skilled Building Pathology Surveyors, providing innovative solutions to intricate building pathology issues across our extensive property asset base.
As a senior leader within our asset team, you will bring your technical expertise to the forefront, tackling some of the most challenging repair solutions. Your insights will be crucial in shaping our asset strategy, ensuring that the condition of our properties and investment priorities is accurately understood and reflected.
Key Responsibilities:
- take a data and evidence-based approach to assessing building related issues, investigating and specifying solutions, providing assurance that the solution is delivered as you require and reviewing impact to refine future approaches;
- provide an escalation path for colleagues when they are unsure of the best approach to adopt, especially relating to damp, mould and condensation, but also for all other asset management and investment challenges;
- contribute to the development and implementation of our asset strategy, leveraging your expertise to inform investment decisions;
- lead a team of Building Pathology Surveyors to meet the needs of our customers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment;
- work with repair, housing, City Building colleagues and other delivery partners to ensure efficient and effective delivery of investment solutions required in our buildings; and
- stay abreast of industry trends and advancements, continuously enhancing your knowledge and skills.
Experience & Qualifications:
- experience of contract/project management to ensure agreed outcomes are delivered from a customer and client perspective;
- strong leadership and management skills, with experience in leading, coaching, and managing teams;
- ability to manage delivery outcomes, develop and implement strategies to overcome roadblocks, and ensure timely delivery of projects;
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with contractors, consultants, statutory authorities, and colleagues;
- degree and/or professional qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience; and
- membership of the RICS or commitment to meeting requirements and working towards it.
The benefits we offer
As part of Wheatley Group, we offer a sector-leading benefits package.
The successful candidate will receive:
- a rewarding career with a competitive salary;
- access to a contributory pension scheme;
- excellent leave entitlements;
- enhanced maternity, paternity, adoption and shared parental leave;
- contributions towards dental, optical, driving lessons and more;
- access to staff inclusion networks promoting an inclusive workplace; and
- 24/7 access to our employee assistance programme.
The role will involve working from home, with travel requirements to customers’ homes, group properties and offices across Glasgow and the west, therefore a driving licence is required.
This post is subject to a Basic Disclosure check.
