Full Job Description
Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) is the largest of Scotland’s seven Regional Transport Partnerships, established by the Transport (Scotland) Act 2005. As well as running the iconic Glasgow Subway, SPT delivers an extensive range of public transport services including bus stations and subsidised bus services, delivers projects directly and in partnership with others, and is responsible for preparation of the statutory Regional Transport Strategy for the west of Scotland.
We have an exciting opportunity for an Environment Officer (Maternity leave) to join our busy Policy & Planning team where we take the lead on many activities for SPT in partnership with internal and external stakeholders. This includes Regional Transport Strategy, Capital Programme development. Project and Policy development; Community Planning, Equality and Environmental issues (including Climate change adaptation and carbon management).
About the Role
The Environmental Officer will focus on policy, strategy, project development and delivery in relation to transport and climate change/adaptation, carbon management, and emissions reduction.

About you
The successful candidate will have a Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline or demonstrable relevant qualification HND/PG Dip experience. You will have good knowledge and experience of working in a climate change and carbon management related field, with an understanding of the related policy, strategy, project development and delivery.
We are looking for someone who is professional, self-motivated and an enthusiastic individual, able to work on their own initiative and work as part of a team. You will have excellent communication skills both verbal and written skills, be motivated and have a drive to succeed.
Full time hours will be 35 hours per week working Monday to Friday. However, you may be required to undertake work outwith this norm to meet the responsibilities of the post.
Whilst you will be based at 131 St Vincent Street, Glasgow, SPT operate a temporary hybrid working pattern which allows 40% home working, ie 2 days per week Monday to Friday.
Please note, this position falls into the ‘low’ risk category under the Alcohol and Drugs policy and therefore is subject to for-cause testing procedures.
