Full Job Description

Built in 1963, William Grant & Sons has been distilling whisky at their Girvan site for more than 60 years and the site is now one of the largest facilities from which whisky is made in Scotland. Based from the flagship Distillery in Girvan, you will have a dynamic and varied, truly generalist role and will be responsible for effectively managing all aspects of human resources activities, practices and processes. This standalone site role will allow to you fully utilise your strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills and in-depth understanding of HR systems and data analysis. This pivotal role within the site Management team combines strategic leadership with hands-on HR operations, supporting up to 300 employees across multiple functions and disciplines sitewide. Your duties and responsibilities will be widespread including;

  • Supporting the site leadership team to maintain their high-performing sitewide operational activities underpinned with an employee-oriented open and collaborative culture that emphasises empowerment, development and growth
  • Ensuring the strategic and operational implementation for all relevant company HR policies, principles and standardised processes
  • Working closely with all stakeholder groups to anticipate and solve complex organisational,
  • people and management issues, with a particular focus on providing effective, practical advice and support on all HR matters
  • Coaching and building capability oat all levels of the management team to anticipate and pre-empt issues and jointly define and deliver effective sitewide HR solutions
  • Supporting the recruitment of talented individuals with strong skills, experience and potential to ensure continued site growth and development
  • Facilitating and monitoring the implementation of relevant L&D programmes to enable employee development, ensuring all staff employees and temporary workers have the required competencies available at the right time to maximize added value, The role will be offered on an initial 1-year Fixed term basis and on a hybrid model, with ideally 3 days per week based with the management team on site at Girvan.

    Ideally qualified in a relevant HR discipline, you will have a wealth of experience as an HR Manager within a fast-paced environment, FMCG, Production & Manufacturing, Life Sciences, Retail etc. You will be able to demonstrate an excellent combination of both operational and strategic HR skills with proven experience in leading and managing the HR function to achieve organisational performance, engagement and growth. You will have first class interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and develop trust and influence across all stakeholder groups. A naturally inquisitive individual, you will be committed to making a real difference to business operations, commercial performance and company culture.
