Full Job Description
Glasgow will host the 23rd edition of Commonwealth Games between 23 July and 2 August 2026. Approximately 3,000 athletes and team officials from up to 74 nations and territories across the Commonwealth will come together in a 11-day celebration of sport and culture. Events will take place across Glasgow, entertaining around 500,000 ticketed spectators and reaching a global broadcast audience of more than one billion.
Glasgow 2026 Limited, the Organising Company (the OC), is organising the Games along with the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) and Commonwealth Games Scotland (CGS). Each has key parts to play in the planning and delivery of the Commonwealth Games - individually and collectively - to ensure that Glasgow 2026 is a huge success.
We have a unique and exciting opportunity available to join the team!
We are seeking a technology specialist to join the Glasgow 2026 team as a Technology Programme Manager. The postholder is responsible for consulting with key stakeholders, delivering and coordinating key technology workstreams to support the central Technology Programme Management team on cross-functional activities.
Key objectives will include delivering integrated planning initiatives, supplier account management, coordinating the technology workstreams, master plan management, risk and issue management, budget tracking and implementation of technology policies.
This role offers the successful applicant the opportunity to support a new and innovative way in planning and delivering the Commonwealth Games; supporting the development of optimised Games time solutions, challenging previous Games’ “norms,” and supporting the OC to be efficient and effectively prepared for the Games.
The successful postholder, will report to the Chief Information Officer, and will be able to demonstrate experience in the planning and delivery of a large-scale multi-venue event.
Responsibilities:
The Technology Programme Manager will be required to collaborate with all Technology and Broadcast workstreams, appropriate stakeholders and Functional Areas of Glasgow 2026 to govern technology projects and to support cross-functional activities. This will include integrated planning initiatives, master plan, risk and issue management, reporting and readiness planning, testing and rehearsals.
The postholder will support the CIO to develop and manage the Technology Commodity Plan and Ensure that applicable policies, including accessibility requirements, are factored into the planning of online services and applications as appropriate.
Education:
The Technology Programme Manager should have a relevant tertiary qualification and proven experience in the planning and delivery of a large-scale multi-venue event. In addition, they should possess a recognised project management qualification or demonstrate relevant experience.
Key Skills and Experience:
We are looking for a Technology Programme Manager who has proven experience in a similar role. The successful candidate will have a high level of organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise effectively.
Key attributes include being a proven record of delivering project objectives including exposure to IT strategy / project and programme management service delivery in a complex environment. The ability to adapt flexibility to work in a dynamic environment, frequently under pressure, supporting several different projects within the Games System function at the same time is key.
In addition, the successful candidate should also display a high level of experience and proven track record across a broad range of software applications, online and cloud-based solutions relevant to this position.
